Internationally Recognized Expert on Food Insecurity & Poverty.
Hola y Bienvenidos, I am Barbie Izquierdo! I was born and raised in North Philadelphia in the Hunting Park section, Orianna Street to be exact. My family experienced a lot of hardships like food insecurity firsthand ever since I was a child. Living in a cycle of poverty was frustrating, and from a young age I knew there was a better quality of life to strive for.
I knew we deserved the things we needed to survive. So when I became a mother myself, and saw the challenges I was facing alone, I couldn’t take it sitting quietly.
